God Stories
I knew God was touching him because I could feel the power of the Lord in my hand which was on his shoulder so I asked Allen if he felt anything, also. With a look of amazement he put his hand to his jaw and said, “Yeah, my tooth doesn’t hurt any more!” The young woman with him (eventually she became his wife) looked back and forth from him to me astonished, and with surprise in her voice stated, “That tooth has been hurting him so bad for lots of days.” Then we all began laughing and praising God. Allen never even mentioned he had a tooth ache! But God is full of surprises and showed Himself pleased with our testimony about Him and His works. (Surely that shows how much God desires our testimonies and how eager He is to respond to them.) Never again did he mention any pain with that tooth and I’ve known him for almost three years at this writing. And if I remember correctly his shoulder was also healed.
God knows even if we who pray don't. God knew that Allen had a bad tooth. So God took care of that as well as the shoulder. Many times we believe that we have to have just the right formula in prayer: the right words, the right inflection in our voice. Sometimes it is good to know what the "target" is that we are shooting God's arrows at. But many times the Holy Spirit just directs our prayers, maybe even changes them as they ascend to the Father's throne, and speak just what is needed. We can trust Him. He knows what to do.
